In Hautvillers, village called the “Cradle of Champagne”, guided tour of the church of Dom Pérignon and the vineyard.

Discovery of the famous village and Grand cru vineyard of Aÿ-Champagne.

Visit the production site of a family of independent producer/grower followed by a commented tasting of a selection of 3 Champagnes Grand Cru/Premier Cru, as well as the essential Champagne alcohols and aperitifs during additional tastings.

Pause at the most beautiful viewpoints of Champagne in the heart of the vineyards and gain more understanding of vineyard management.

Discovery of the famous villages and vineyards classified Grand cru and Premier cru around Epernay in the historic hillsides in the Marne Valley listed as World Heritage Site by UNESCO, mainly planted with Pinot Noir.
The village of Aÿ-Champagne was the main center of the Champagne industry in the 16th century. The kings of France had their own wine presses here and the wines of Champagne used to be called “Wines of Aÿ”.
The vineyard is classified as Grand Cru at the highest level of the Appellation.
On our visit to a part of this historic village and its well-known vineyard, we will discuss the vineyard management, the different grape varieties, the exceptional Terroir and sustainable viticulture.
The tour includes a stop in front of the headquarters of the famous Champagne Houses in Aÿ such as Bollinger, Deutz and Ayala.
Discover the villages and vineyards classified Premier cru of Mutigny and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ where the Champagne Houses Billecart-Salmon and Philipponnat are located. A stop is planned at the Mont du Gruguet viewpoint.
Visit a family of independent producer/grower with an explanation of the Champagne production process, visit of the press, winery and cellar. The visit will be followed by a tasting of several of their Champagnes.
In addition to the Champagnes, taste the 3 essential Champagne alcohols and aperitifs : Ratafia, Fine de la Marne and Marc de Champagne from the Goyard Distillery which is the oldest in Champagne.
When visiting Hautvillers, called the “Cradle of Champagne”, enjoy a private tour of the Church where the grave of Dom Pérignon, known as the spiritual father of Champagne, is.
In Hautvillers, we will also stop to enjoy the magnificent panorama of Champagne overlooking the Marne Valley, the place where Dom Pérignon carried out his experiments in winemaking.
It is the ideal place in the heart of the vineyards to take unforgettable photos of you and this breathtaking landscape.

From Epernay :

If you are a small private group of more than 3 people and depending on the weather/season, the vehicle may not be the electric E-Mehari red Jeep car but a Premium Minivan or Van. The electric E-Mehari will be open or not depending on the weather of the day.

• 9:30 am or 2 pm in front of the Epernay Tourist Office or at the Epernay train station.
• On request : other times and meeting places in Epernay or in the surrounding villages*.

From Paris, direct trains will allow you to join us in Epernay or Reims. From Reims, join us also in Epernay by direct train or taxi.

  We spent an absolutely brilliant day with Emma touring the vineyards and family champagne houses, easily the best way to explore this area.  Emma was knowledgeable, super friendly, patient (we asked a lot of questions!) and explained the champagne making process and history of the region perfectly.  We visited a couple of small family houses for tastings which was a great contrast to the other visits we made to the big houses.    Highly highly recommended.

  We had an amazing day with Nina touring vineyards, unique local Champagne houses and going to a great bistro for lunch.  Nina is a very knowledgeable and fun tour guide who created an interesting itinerary for us.  We had booked and rebooked this tour throughout Covid and Isabelle was always accommodating and friendly.   We had an amazing day tour of the vineyards and small cellars of Champagne! Our tour guide, Nina, was absolutely amazing because she speaks perfect English AND she has a winemaking background - so she was able to answer all our MILLION questions!
